New for 2026

Introducing Shepherd’s Rest, our new morning preparation space

Here at Rivervale Barn, we know how important your wedding morning is for getting your day off to a calm, peaceful, and enjoyable start. That’s why we’re delighted to share a new addition to Rivervale Barn, Shepherd’s Rest, arriving spring 2026!

We’re adding this brand-new wedding-morning preparation space so you and your partner now have your own space to get ready for your wedding day in perfect tranquillity.

Individual spaces for both you and your partner

Many couples will already know The Pamper Room, our existing peaceful, light-filled preparation room. It’s the perfect place to get ready, featuring hair and makeup stations, and plenty of space for your wedding party.

Now, your partner doesn’t have to miss out on getting ready at Rivervale Barn! Shepherd’s Rest is an additional, dedicated space for preparations, meaning both of you will have your own space to get ready comfortably and enjoy the build-up to the ceremony with your wedding parties.

Whether that means final outfit preparations, straightening ties and jackets, polishing shoes, Shepherd’s Rest gives you the freedom to shape your morning in a way that feels right for you.

Perfectly positioned for ease and flow

Shepherd’s Rest is located close to the front entrance of the barn, making it easy to move seamlessly from preparation to ceremony. You’ll feel tucked away and private, yet never far from the heart of the venue.

This thoughtful positioning helps everything feel effortless, reducing unnecessary movement and allowing the day to unfold calmly.

The details

Styled as a charming Shepherd’s Hut, Shepherd’s Rest blends beautifully with Rivervale Barn’s countryside setting. Inside, the space has been thoughtfully designed to feel comfortable, private and welcoming, with room to prepare outfits, make final adjustments and enjoy the moment together. Tea, coffee, and water are available throughout the morning, while a Bluetooth sound system allows you to set your own soundtrack as the excitement builds.

Soft bench seating with cosy furnishings completes the space, creating a relaxed atmosphere that encourages you to slow down, settle in and truly enjoy the start of your wedding day.

Shepherd’s Rest isn’t just practical, it’s also very photogenic, making a great backdrop for pre-ceremony photos.

The Benefits of On-site Accommodation at Your Wedding Venue

Picture this: it’s the morning after your wedding, and you are sitting around a breakfast table laden with delicious food and drink, surrounded by your closest friends and family, reminiscing about the amazing day you shared yesterday. Sounds like a dream, right?!

Well, it doesn’t have to be! If you choose a wedding venue with on-site accommodation, this dream scenario could be your reality. Here at Rivervale Barn, we know how important it is that your loved ones are well looked after, and in this blog post, we’ll explain exactly why we think on-site accommodation will really elevate your guests’ experience.

Unmatched convenience

Booking a wedding venue with its own accommodation on-site is the epitome of convenience. Once you’ve danced the night away and had your fill of delicious food and drink, how wonderful would it be to simply walk a few steps to a comfortable bed? There would be no need to worry about designated drivers, waiting for taxis, or catching the last train; everything you need would be right there on-site. This could be especially helpful for your family and friends who have travelled a long way, as they probably won’t be familiar with local transport options.

Top tip

Start your celebrations early and get ready on-site, too! At Rivervale Barn, you and your wedding party can enjoy preparing for the day ahead in The Pamper Room. The space has been purpose-designed to give you the best start to the day, with hair and make-up stations and lots of natural light. You can even enjoy a bottle of bubbly and grazing boards whilst you get ready.

Unrivalled luxury

On-site accommodation also means a seamless continuation of the venue’s luxury. The comfort, style and décor will match the excellent service of your wedding and make the entire experience feel indulgent and special. Why not give your guests the chance to extend the extravagance a little longer?

Extended celebrations

Nobody wants their guests to leave the dancefloor early, and if they stay on-site, they’ll be able to enjoy every last minute of your celebrations!

Stress-free logistics

Booking a venue with accommodation simplifies logistics for everyone involved. No one has to worry about how they’ll get home after a long day of celebrating. This can be a particular relief for guests who have young children. It also ensures that everyone stays together, enhancing the sense of community and shared experience.

Top tip

Here at Rivervale Barn, we have accommodation for families with children, meaning they can all stay comfortably in one room.

Enhanced guest experience

Your guests will appreciate your thoughtfulness in providing on-site accommodation. It shows that you’ve considered their comfort and convenience, which can make them feel even more special and valued. Plus, they’ll have more time to mingle and enjoy each other’s company without the pressure of needing to leave early.

Finding a venue with on-site accommodation

Choosing a venue with on-site accommodation will elevate your guests’ wedding experience, and in turn, you’ll feel happier knowing your guests are happy.

Here at Rivervale Barn, we’re proud to be launching our very own on-site guest accommodation, Rivervale Lodge. The beautiful new accommodation will consist of nine double bedrooms, one family room, and a breakfast room where everyone can gather the next morning. It will sleep up to 20 adults (plus 2 z-beds for children).

So, whilst you and your partner relax in our luxurious honeymoon suite, The Cornstore Cottage, you can feel confident that your guests are being well looked after right here on site.

If you want to learn more about Rivervale Barn, why not visit us? We would love to meet you and discuss your wedding plans. Book a visit using the button below, or get in touch with us on 01252 413232 for more information.

What’s more, the celebrations can extend into the next day as you’ll be able to gather together in the breakfast room. As you enjoy a delicious breakfast together, you can share stories and laughs about the night before (and maybe recover in solidarity if anyone feels a little delicate!).

Top tip

After breakfast, why not arrange to go for a country walk or explore the local area together before you go your separate ways?

Spanish Attraction

We had our ceremony and reception at the amazing Rivervale Barn! We felt very excited when we saw it as we knew we had found ‘our venue’. We did go and see another venue (because we felt we should) but it only confirmed that Rivervale was the venue for us. We really liked the fact that we could have the whole day at one venue to avoid our guests having to travel from one venue to another.

“It is an absolutely stunning venue and has been so well thought out. All of our guests commented on how beautiful it is and how well it works as a wedding venue. We decided to get married in December and the barn was ideal for a winter wedding – there was even Christmas tree!”

Our family made our ceremony special

My Dad walked me down the aisle and his cousin married me as she is a registrar for Buckinghamshire. It made the whole service so personal. An old family friend also sang as I walked down the aisle which was amazing!

“It made it feel very personal and everyone commented on how nice it was to have someone sing live. Just after our first dance, Mum got everyone to dance in a circle around us to bless our marriage, which made it a memorable moment!”

Guests loved our origami hearts

Our wedding theme was burgundy stars and our table names were of Maldivian islands, which was fitting as this was to be our honeymoon destination! We decorated with hurricane vases and church candles from Cherubs for the table centres and made origami hearts out of ivory and burgundy tissue paper that were placed around. Some of the guests also took home a star or two as a memento of our day.

My creative side saved us a small fortune!

I made all of my own stationery, saving a small fortune, but also adding a personal touch to it. I felt very proud of the fact that I had made it all and a lot of the guests commented on it too. My Mum made burgundy sheer chiffon table runners for us which we put along each table. We sprinkled diamante confetti onto them to add a little extra shine.

I felt beautiful!

My wedding dress was a Sophia Tolli A-line, ivory satin dress that cost just over £1,100. As soon as I put the dress on I knew it was ‘the one’ – I felt beautiful! I wore a diamante flower side headband with a two tier, short veil which also had flowers appliquéd onto it – both matched the appliquéd flowers on the lace train and front detail of my dress.

He looked gorgeous!

Craig wore a black morning suit with an ivory waistcoat, cravat and buttonhole to match me. He looked gorgeous!

“He was emotional while I was walking down the aisle as was I and said how beautiful I looked when I got to the front.”

My favourite part…

The whole day was amazing, but if I had to pick one favourite part it would probably be the moment we were pronounced husband and wife and everyone applauded.

Top tips…

I would love to do it all over again. I think the only thing that we would do differently is try and take some time for ourselves on the day. Amazingly, I don’t think there is anything else that we would change.
